Post 416 In Encinitas went all out Saturday afternoon to host their second annual Army ~ Navy Game Day event! Hundreds turned out to join in the fun, food, and drinks, while cheering for their favorite military team around the large screen in the party tent and multiple TVs in the clubhouse. The family-friendly event also included special activities for the children, including a bounce house, cotton candy, and face painting.
The Post was especially honored to welcome a number of dignitaries, who included the American Legion National Commander, Denise Rohan. Commander Rohan is a U.S. Army retired veteran, and is the first woman to be elected to head the organization in its 99 year history. Also among the V.I.P. guests were Department of California Commander Robert Heinisch, California National Executive Committee member Nancy Wilson, District 22 Commander Chris Yates, and California State Assemblyman for District 76, Rocky Chavez.
San Dieguito Post 416 has been supporting local veterans, active duty service men and women, and their families since 1930, and is the second oldest continuously operating business in the city of Encinitas. This year's fundraiser was held in support of the Save Our Legion Campaign, which has a goal of rebuilding the Post's aging facility on F Street, in order to continue their work serving future veterans.
